There has been a recent statement released by McDonald’s UK, stating that a new ‘table service’ system will be introduced in a number of different McDonald’s restaurants across the UK.
In a bid to meet their costumers “evolving expectations”, McDonald’s CEO, Steve Easterbrook, put in place a trial run of table service in Mottram, Greater Manchester to see how UK costumers would respond to the change. The trial is believed it to be a great success and McDonald’s are planning on expanding the table service to 11 more restaurants within the UK.
This makes us wonder, how much more of their traditional set-up McDonald’s will change in a bid to compete with their more ‘upmarket’ competition. Will we see an introduction to plates and cutlery?
Currently, McDonald’s have the basic “bin everything” system, where all rubbish is disposed of using bin liners. With increasing pressure from environmental agencies and ‘friends of the earth’ related groups, will this be a thing of the past?
More and more companies worldwide are reaping the benefits of installed grease traps, whether it be through recycled FOG (used for production of bio diesel), lowered maintenance costs of pipework, increased hygiene and lowered odour within kitchens, it is most likely just a matter of time before McDonald’s invest in this.
