Hello Blog readers!
A new force is in town to help in the fight against fatbergs!! A former police dog has now joined the fight to sniff out fatbergs. Hector is a retired police dog who has been employment to help stop the blockages in the sewers that result from Fats, Oil and Grease (FOG) being emptied down drains and into the sewage system. FOG is found in lots of common foods that we use every day such as sauces, mayonnaise, butter, salad dressings and oils.
Hector sniffs out air gaps at ground level to detect blockages in the sewage system and along with his co-workers they help to educate local food establishments on the importance of proper FOG disposal. More local authorities are taking this step to educate residents and food establishments and have active FOG programmes running recommending that grease traps/grease removal devices are installed and maintained.
In countries such as Ireland new regulations are in force which require food establishments to install and service grease traps. Grease traps work by separating fat from wastewater allowing clean water to enter the sewage system. Here at Grease Guardian we supply grease traps that come in a number of different sizes and styles which are suitable for busy kitchens, B&B’s and restaurants.  For more information on how you can become the proud owner of a grease guardian, please contact us on the details below.
