Flushing out the problem…isn’t it about time?

THE all-too-familiar sight of raw sewerage blockages in our towns and cities has the public rattled and concerned…finally.

Somehow, restaurants, fast food outlets, and certain food manufacturing companies, continue to turn the blind a eye to the need for installing grease traps in their premises.  Such installations will stop clogging up our city’s sewer system, that can affect any part of the city.

Theses includes random residential areas to central business districts within the city.  I know it seems to be news of one blockage to another but this has to be publicized so more and more people are educated and aware.

Currently in Northern Ireland, there is no law in place for us to enforce the installment of Grease Traps. For that matter, the council need to enforce people dumping their industrial waste in all these restaurants.  All food establishments are not at fault, thankfully many do have a grease management program in place, but it takes us all collectively working towards the one goal.

Dumped grease flows directly into the sewer system, and once it comes in contact with water, it solidifies.  Large amounts of oil from food preparation in restaurants can overwhelm a septic tank or treatment facility, causing release of untreated sewage into the environment.

If you have any concerns or questions over how to protect your drains or how to get the correct size of grease trap installed please contact us at GREASE GUARDIAN.

One by one…we aim to have every food serving establishment fully aware of the growing problem and help combat it.
