FOG PROBLEMS AND FLOODING

GREASE REMOVAL DEVICE

GREASE TRAP

Whilst researching on-line I came across an article that reported Thames Water spends one million pounds each month clearing fatbergs.  This is a huge expensive for the company and could be reduced if businesses and restaurants installed grease traps.

If blockages are not removed this can result in flooding and can cause sewage to back-up into homes which is definitely not wanted!  Another negative side effect is the smell from a fatberg which is unpleasant.  The company has tried to tackle this problem with a Bin it campaign to encourage households to order and use a fat trap or container to dispose FOG waste into.  It is really getting back to basics and asking people to not pour or flush oils, food waste, wet-wipes or rubbish down sinks, toilets and drains. Preventative measures like this to reduce the amount of oil and waste from households going down drains can help.

Grease Traps

Restaurants and businesses can install a grease trap which would reduce the amount of FOG waste going into the sewer.  A restaurant will produce much more FOG waste and is more at risk from blockages.  Installing a grease trap will help manage the Fog waste and are now considered a necessary piece of kitchen equipment in most cities.  More local authorities are now introducing FOG programmes to ensure correctly sized and maintained grease traps are now being fitted in kitchens if FOG waste is produced.

Grease Guardian offers both manual and automatic grease traps for restaurants and businesses.  There are a few things to consider before you order one.  The grease trap will need to be sized correctly and this is dependent on how many appliances will be using the grease trap.  If you would like more information on the products we offer please visit our website or contact us using the below details:
