Project Overview
Separation of Waste Oils & Fats from Kitchen at the HILTON HOTEL Malta. Grease Guardian Automatic Oil & Grease Separator.
Scope Of Work
Portomaso is a unique waterfront development situated in the fashionable district of St Julian’s on Malta’s northeast coast. At the heart of Portomaso is the 294 room Hilton Malta (operating since April 2000) with its own private beach, marina, restaurants, bars and a host of water sports facilities.
The consultants chose FM Environmental (Malta) Ltd. from a number of foreign suppliers to provide the detailed proposals, layouts and supply of automatic oil and grease separators so as to achieve the necessary effluent quality from the kitchen liquid waste stream. FM Environmental (Malta) Ltd. responded by basing its recommendations on our well proven Grease Guardian solutions. The Grease Guardian operation provides for the separation of the solids at source and for the automatic separation of the oils and fast from the effluent originating from the various kitchens.
Grease Guardian Locations Due to the project size and the number of kitchens involved, the solution opted for, was to look at every individual kitchen and select the most appropriate model. In the case of the main kitchen, a multi unit solution had to be resorted to, so as to cover heavy concentration effluent sources and also to be able to cater for site specific civil requirements. This entailed the use of five small units between models D1 and D2 and two central D5 units.
Other units have been installed in the staff kitchen, executive kitchen and pool kitchen areas. “ We are very pleased with the operation of the Grease Guardian grease traps supplied by FM Environmental group and installed at Hilton Malta. All kitchens and the pantries are fitted with Grease Guardian units…. The units require minimal intervention from our end and we consider this to be one of the advantages of using the system… Considering the excellent performances of the units I have no hesitation in recommending the Grease Guardian ”.
