If you’re fed up of cleaning your grease trap, you’re not alone. For many commercial kitchens, ...
McCloskey’s Bakery Café at Marshes Shopping Centre in Dundalk experienced recurring drainage issues caused by coffee grounds entering the pipework beneath the coffee barista station. Without any filtration in place, the waste system frequently became obstructed, leading to backflow and water pooling under the counter area during busy service periods.
To address this, a Coffee Guardian™ CGST4 system was installed beneath the coffee machine and connected to the sink and coffee waste lines. The unit captures coffee grounds at source using a stainless steel tank and fine mesh filter sock system, preventing solids from entering the drainage network.
Following installation, coffee grounds are now fully contained and easily removed through routine filter sock replacement, typically every 2–4 weeks depending on usage. This has eliminated blockages, removed the need for reactive maintenance, and significantly improved cleanliness and operational reliability in the coffee preparation area.
